Pre-Ordered Curbside Meal Pickup for Online/Hybrid Learners

CURBSIDE MEAL PICK-UP FOR BRYAN ISD ONLINE/HYBRID LEARNERS
 
Beginning Monday, August 31, parents may choose to pick-up their child's meals at these locations during these times:
  • Mitchell Elementary, 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Bus Zone
  • Henderson Elementary, 11:00 am – 11:30 am, Bus Zone
  • Bryan High School, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, Front of School
  • Neal Elementary, 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm, Bus Zone
  • Bonham Elementary, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm, Car Rider Drop (enter from Bonham St.)
You can pick up one hot lunch and one shelf-stable breakfast per eligible student each day of the school week. Students will be charged according to their eligibility: Free, Reduced or Full-Paid.
 
• All meals must be ordered by 3 pm the day before they are needed. Orders can be placed using the Schoolcafe mobile app, the Schoolcafe link at bryanisd.org, or by calling Bryan ISD School Nutrition at 979-209-7052. Upon ordering and selecting a school as a pick up location, the system will give you specific info about where to pick up the meals (bus area, parent pickup area, etc.).
• We are operating under the guidance of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program; therefore, meals are no longer free unless you qualify for the meal program. Meal applications are available on the Bryan ISD website and on the Schoolcafe mobile app. A new meal application must be completed each school year unless you received a letter stating you pre-qualified for meals.
• Cash will not be accepted at curbside locations. If your child qualifies for reduced-price meals or is a paid student, you will need to deposit money to their meal account using the Schoolcafe app or drop a check or money order off at the school or Nutrition office.
• Children do not have to be in the vehicle to pick up meals, but an 8x11 sheet of paper with the child’s name, school and school ID number (written in large letters & numbers) needs to be displayed on the dashboard when picking up meals curbside. This will allow staff to quickly identify each student and mark a roster at the curb.
• Parents, while practicing social distancing if waiting in line, will exit the car and pick up the meals that will be placed on a cart or table.

Does it matter where I pick up my child's meal?
Parents may choose to pick up their child's meal at any of the open locations.  
 
Will curbside meals be free like they were March through July?
No. When school starts, we operate under the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. Free and reduced-price meals are only available to students that qualify for the meal program or free to students that are enrolled in a CEP school (Kemp, Fannin, Crockett, Neal, Navarro, Jones, MC Harris, and DAEP).
 
Can students that are not a Bryan ISD student purchase a meal?
No, we can only serve meals to students that are currently enrolled in Bryan ISD.
 
How much does a curbside breakfast cost?
Breakfast is $.30 for students qualifying for reduced-price meals and $1.50 for all students in PK-12 unless the student qualifies for the free meal program, attends a CEP school, or they attend a school that offers free breakfast (Davila MS, Long IS, Bonham, Henderson, Branch).
 
How much does a curbside lunch cost?
Lunch is $.40 for students qualifying for reduced-price meals, $2.50 for paid students in PK-4th, and $2.75 for students in 5th-12th. Students qualifying for the free meal program and students enrolled in a CEP school receive lunch at no cost.
 
Can parents still apply for free and reduced-price meals?
Yes, parents/guardians may apply for meal benefits all year long. Applications may be submitted online at schoolcafe.com/bryanisd or download the Schoolcafe app on your smartphone or device. Paper applications are available in a mailbox outside the SNS office located at 1920 N. Earl Rudder Freeway in Bryan, or you can call (979) 209-7052 and have an application mailed to your house.
 
Will cash payments be accepted at curbside locations?
No, parents will need to pre-pay for meals by adding money to their student’s meal account through schoolcafe.com/bryanisd or download the Schoolcafe app on your smartphone or device. Meal payments may also be dropped off at any school cafeteria or at the School Nutrition office.
 
Do students need to be present in the vehicle to receive curbside meals?
No, but we need the student’s name, school, and id number of each student so we can quickly and easily identify students enrolled in BISD. Please put an 8x11 sheet of paper with your student’s name, school, and id number and display it on the dashboard as you come through the curbside line.
 
Will meals be served hot or cold?
Lunch will be served hot, but a shelf-stable, cold breakfast will be sent home with the lunch if requested. The breakfast is intended to be consumed the following day.
 
How will special dietary accommodations be handled for curbside?
Forms for dietary accommodations (such as food allergies) will be available online or through the school nurse at your child’s assigned school.
